Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has opened applications for space at the Addu Regional Free Zone, inviting interested parties to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
MPL said applicants must submit their details through the designated form, which will be used to assess interest in tenancy within the free zone. The company added that a Request for Proposals will be issued directly to applicants and may also be published publicly for wider participation.
The EOI submission does not constitute a binding commitment for either MPL or applicants.
Application Details and Deadline
The deadline for submitting Expressions of Interest is 11 June 2026 at 5:00pm Maldives time.
Applicants are required to provide details about their company, a designated representative, and proposed use of the free zone. They must also identify the primary sector of activity, from fisheries processing, light manufacturing, assembly, warehousing and logistics, cold chain operations, or other relevant industries.
The form also requires applicants to state whether operations will be primarily export-based, export and domestic, or primarily domestic, along with intended target markets.
Additional information on the scale of operations, infrastructure requirements, and supporting documents must also be submitted.
Role of Addu Regional Free Zone
According to the Ministry, Addu Hithadhoo and the Addu Port area form part of the regional free zone, which serves as a key commercial hub for the south.
The ministry said the facility is not limited to storage but also supports repackaging of bulk goods, fish exports, bonded storage and re-export activities.
The government said it plans to expand the system further, with 1.7 hectares of land already allocated for future development. Expansion will be carried out based on demand.
The system is jointly managed by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Maldives Customs Service, and the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Transport.
