Drivers Urged to Take Extra Precautions Amid Lighting Failure on Highways

In a public safety announcement released yesterday, Maldives Police Service has called for heightened driver vigilance following a malfunction of the Male’ and Hulhumale’ highway lights. 

The unanticipated technical issue has disrupted lighting across these heavily-trafficked thoroughfares, including the typically illuminated Sinamale’ Bridge.

These roadways, with the Sinamale’ Bridge in particular, serve as daily commuting routes for hundreds of local residents and have been the site of several tragic accidents in the past. 

The precise nature of the technical malfunction leading to the blackout remains unclear. Police have confirmed the lighting issue but have refrained from commenting further on the specifics of the problem or the estimated timeline for its resolution.
