Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a workshop aimed at improving general administration, Shareef highlighted that public work services have been extended across the Maldives for nearly thirty years.

During the inspections by the ministry, several public work sites were found to be in dilapidated conditions, with some equipment rendered completely unusable. Shareef noted the lack of adequate space for employees and significant operational challenges as additional issues.

Shareef also mentioned that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has prioritised the introduction of public work services across the Maldives. He confirmed that the budget for the next year would include allocations to establish public works on 15 islands.

Despite the scheduled launch of new public work services next year, Shareef acknowledged the need for significant upgrades and improvements to the infrastructure and services of existing public works establishments.

The expansion of public work services aims to enhance infrastructure and operational efficiency, addressing longstanding issues to better serve the Maldivian communities.
