Gov’t Investigates Death of Indian Construction Worker at Thilamale Bridge Site

The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure announced yesterday that the government is investigating the death of an Indian construction worker at the Thilamale Bridge site.
The worker passed away on Monday night, the Ministry confirmed, clarifying that earlier reports of a fatality at the Sinamale Bridge site were incorrect.
Last Monday night (17th of June 2024), a construction worker from India working at the Thilamale’ Bridge Site has passed away. The incident is currently being investigated by the relevant authorities with the support of the contractor. The Ministry stated that relevant authorities are collaborating with the contractor to investigate the incident.
The Thilamale Bridge project, valued at USD 500 million, is undertaken by Indian contractor Afcons Infrastructure. The project aims to connect Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu to Malé and involves hundreds of Indian workers.
