Muizzu and Sembe Designated PNC’s President and Vice President

The People’s National Congress (PNC) has announced its President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Vice-President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef has been designated as the President and Vice President of the PNC, respectively.

Furthermore, the former PNC president, Abdul Raheem Abdullah, has been nominated for the position of PNC chairman.
These appointments were made following unanimous votes by the members present at the meeting.
Prior to the presidential election, Hussain Mohamed Latheef was affiliated with the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). However, he contested the presidential election under the PNC banner.
Following his successful election victory, Hussain opted to join the PNC due to the party’s requirement that mandates presidential candidates to be members of the party they represent.
