The Maldives Police Service has deployed a new towing vehicle to remove illegally parked vehicles across the Malé area.

Police began operating the vehicle last Thursday, according to a post shared on X, noting that the addition has streamlined the towing process.

Previously, officers relied on manual labour to lift two-wheelers and used a forklift to load four-wheelers onto a pickup truck. The new tow truck, however, is equipped with a tow hook that allows officers to pull vehicles behind the truck and transport them more efficiently.

Police stated that they continue to work daily to clear vehicles obstructing traffic flow and pedestrian routes in both Malé and Hulhumalé.
