Police Tow Over 250 Vehicles in Hulhumale’ as Part of Clearance Operation
The Maldives Police Service has towed 252 vehicles from the streets of Hulhumale’ in the past 24 hours as part of a targeted operation to remove abandoned and illegally parked vehicles.
Authorities reported that the vehicles were broken, unused for days, and included unregistered vehicles as well as those registered outside Zone A. The operation aims to reclaim public spaces and improve road safety in the area.
Police have stated that towing will continue across streets and open areas in Hulhumale’, with a focus on illegally parked vehicles, old vehicles, and those in violation of registration rules.
Officials have highlighted that the number of vehicles imported into the country has exceeded the city’s capacity, prompting stricter enforcement. Just days earlier, 20 vehicles were towed from Hulhumale’ for similar violations.
Vehicle owners have been warned that they will be responsible for retrieving their vehicles and covering any damage incurred during the towing process.
