Special Needs Centre in Guraidhoo Now Under Health Ministry Oversight
The Special Needs Centre located in Kaafu Atoll Guraidhoo has been officially transferred to the oversight of the Ministry of Health, following a decision made during cabinet meeting.
The President’s Office announced that the transfer was made based on advice from the cabinet.
This shift in responsibility came after the Ministry of Family and Social Development submitted a proposal advocating for the Health Ministry to assume administrative control over the centre. The decision will also see the centre’s budget, ongoing projects, and existing staff fall under the Health Ministry’s purview.
The centre, which primarily provides care and treatment for individuals with mental health issues, has historically been overseen by the Ministry of Family and Social Development, previously known as the Gender Ministry.
The cabinet also announced that it is inviting public opinion on this decision, welcoming feedback from citizens on the matter.
