Thinadhoo City Council shared images on social media showing rainwater inundating homes and administrative buildings. The council confirmed that both residential and government properties have sustained damage due to the flooding.

The Maldives has been experiencing widespread rain, strong winds and rough seas since last week, with the Maldives Meteorological Service warning that these conditions are likely to continue until at least next Tuesday. The agency attributes the unsettled weather to a strengthening of the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as the Hulhangu Monsoon.

Scattered showers, including periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms, are forecast across the country, with winds from the southwest or west reaching 10–20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. Sea conditions are expected to remain moderate but may become rough during showers, with wave heights between three and six feet.
