Vice President Faisal Naseem emphasised the significant role of women in facilitating opportunities across all sectors and building a stable and secure society, during a meeting held today on the occasion of World Population Day.
Addressing a gathering at the Islamic Centre, the Vice President extensively discussed the empowerment of women and the contributions they make towards societal stability and development. He called upon women to enhance their involvement in the country’s progress and highlighted the government’s efforts in empowering women.
During his speech, the Vice President also touched upon the release of the State of World Population Report and Census 2022. He emphasised that these results would aid in identifying crucial areas for the development planning of Maldives, enabling a prioritised approach.
In conclusion, the Vice President urged the citizens to prioritise national interests and work collaboratively towards the country’s development. Simultaneously, he encouraged them to consider significant economic changes and increase participation in the workforce.
Following the meeting, the Vice President paid a visit to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and attended the “For Every Age” photo exhibition, organised in collaboration with the MBS.
This exhibition, held in the corridors of the Islamic Center, showcased the stories and experiences of individuals at various stages of life. Comprising 10 photographs, the exhibition was part of an international advocacy campaign aimed at raising awareness about the life-cycle approach and gender dimensions in addressing population ageing.
