Maldives Signs with Saudi Firm for 500-Tonne Cold Storage in Meemu Atoll
The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s ROS for Trading Company to develop a large cold storage facility in Mulah, Meemu Atoll. The contract was awarded to the Saudi-based company during a ceremony held yesterday.
Director General Enas Naseer signed on behalf of the Fisheries Ministry, while Deputy Director Hamad Mohammed Al-Minhali represented ROS for Trading.

The planned 500-tonne facility will have the capacity to brine-freeze up to 50 tonnes of fish per day, according to the ministry. The project, which is valued at USD 5.2 million, includes both design and construction and is expected to be completed within 300 days.
The Fisheries Ministry highlighted that the new facility will provide substantial benefits to fishermen in Meemu Atoll, promoting further growth and stability in the fishing industry across the region.
