Parliament Approves New Cabinet Ministers Following Reshuffle by Muizzu
Parliament has formally approved the appointments of three new ministers in a cabinet reshuffle announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on 30 September.
Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has been appointed as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, a role he assumes after his tenure as Minister of Health. Moosa Zameer, previously the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been assigned the position of Minister of Finance, succeeding Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq. In addition, Abdulla Nazim, who formerly held a ministerial role at the President’s Office, has been named as the new Minister of Health.
The appointments were submitted to Parliament for approval following the announcement. Prior to the parliamentary vote, the Government Oversight Committee conducted a thorough review, unanimously endorsing the qualifications and experience of each candidate.
The process followed constitutional requirements mandating parliamentary approval for changes to the cabinet. After the committee’s endorsement, Parliament held a voting session to confirm the appointments, resulting in their official approval.
