The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has clarified that Aasandha services will continue to be accessible to individuals who are required to pay out of pocket due to the recent suspension of cashless services.

This announcement follows recent adjustments to the Aasandha benefit scheme for patients holding private insurance policies.

As of Friday, new regulations were introduced for Aasandha’s coverage, specifying that patients with private insurance are eligible for Aasandha benefits only after reaching their insurance limits or for treatments excluded by their policies.

Following this change, several private insurers have halted cashless services for outpatient care, leading hospitals to charge insured patients directly for services from Saturday.

In a statement on Sunday, NSPA affirmed that patients without private insurance or whose policies do not apply to certain treatments would still receive Aasandha support as usual. NSPA further assured that Aasandha would continue to cover out-of-pocket expenses for individuals impacted by suspending cashless services from their insurers.

“In all cases where your insurance policy does not provide coverage, and you need to pay out of pocket, Aasandha will continue to offer support as before,” an NSPA representative stated.

The agency has advised the public to contact the Aasandha hotline at 1400 for the latest information regarding service availability.
