Gov’t to Provide Allowance and Housing Support for Families of November 3rd Martyrs
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced his administration’s decision to provide an allowance to the families of those killed in the November 3rd coup and develop a 50-unit housing complex in their honour.
The announcement was made last night during the official Victory Day reception, marking the anniversary of the 1988 coup attempt. In his speech, Muizzu highlighted the sacrifices made, noting that eight soldiers and eleven civilians lost their lives in the November 3rd coup. He further acknowledged that since 1979, 29 soldiers and two police officers have died in various incidents.
Muizzu announced that an allowance would now be provided to the families of the martyrs under a specific policy to be gazetted, ensuring it is delivered in a sustainable manner. The policy will include support for five individuals awarded the November 3rd Medal of Exceptional Bravery and ten individuals who received the Medal for Bravery.
Additionally, Muizzu shared plans for a 50-unit housing complex, named ‘Shaheedhunge Hiyaa’, dedicated to the families of the martyrs. He assured that the housing complex would be developed and handed over to the families within the current term.
