Speaking at the launch ceremony for the Human Rights Defenders Programme, HRCM member Ismail Habeeb underscored the commission’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting human rights.
He highlighted the role of the new programme in enhancing the skills and knowledge of human rights advocates, ultimately aiming to strengthen their ability to uphold these rights and hold authorities accountable.
According to Habeeb, the commission’s objective is to implement the programme on a national scale, raising awareness and fostering a network of well-equipped individuals dedicated to protecting human rights.
The four-day programme is set to welcome participants from the capital, Malé, as well as from various atolls. HRCM has previously conducted similar training sessions in Kulhudhuffushi City and Addu City.
