Shiuree praised the achievement, stating, “this recognition reflects the Maldives’ beauty, warm hospitality, and commitment to sustainable tourism.”

In addition to this honour, the Maldives was named the World’s Leading Green Destination for the first time, making it the only country to hold both titles.

Several Maldivian tourism properties were also recognised at the 2024 WTA, highlighting the nation’s exceptional hospitality standards.

The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are regarded as the most prestigious in the global travel industry, with winners selected by travel professionals and consumers worldwide.
