Gov’t Initiates Transfer of Gulhifalhu Management to FDC
The government has begun the process of transferring the management of Gulhifalhu in Kaafu Atoll from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC).
FDC announced it is actively facilitating the transition, which includes the exchange of relevant documentation and detailed discussions on the transfer. The corporation also stated that existing agreements related to Gulhifalhu will be reviewed as part of this process.
Despite the transfer, the Cabinet has decided that FDC will remain a subsidiary of HDC. Consequently, FDC will oversee all social housing projects moving forward.
A significant portion of the land in Gulhifalhu has been earmarked to address housing challenges. Under the Binveriyaa Housing Scheme introduced by the previous administration, residential plots are planned to be allocated from this area.
The move highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline housing initiatives and prioritise solutions to the nation’s housing needs.
