Muizzu Reiterates Commitment to Human Rights on Human Rights Day
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering a peaceful and inclusive society through equitable policies during a message shared on Human Rights Day.
In a post on X, the President highlighted the importance of enacting laws that ensure fair access to healthcare, education, and justice tailored to the Maldives’ unique geographic needs.

Human Rights Day marks the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a landmark document that establishes fundamental rights for all individuals regardless of race, religion, gender, language, or other status.
Muizzu described the occasion as a reminder of the interconnectedness of human rights, underscoring his administration’s vision for a society rooted in dignity, equality, and justice. He also reiterated commitments to press freedom, workers’ rights, gender equality, and environmental sustainability for future generations.
This year’s Human Rights Day is observed under the theme, “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now.”
