Final Stages of Media Funding Regulation Underway, Says Youth Minister

Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed has revealed that work is in its final stages to introduce a regulation governing the allocation of funds to the media.

The state budget for the upcoming year has earmarked 0.1 percent of state revenue for the media, amounting to MVR 27.9 million.

In response to a query from Mihaaru Media, Minister Waheed explained that the Youth Ministry is leading efforts to develop the regulation that will guide media funding.

The regulation is currently under discussion with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant agencies, he added.
