Ministry Launches New Helpline for Housing Enquiries
The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Urban Development has launched a dedicated phone number to provide information on the government’s housing initiatives and services.
Following a recent Cabinet reshuffle, the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development was dissolved, and its housing responsibilities were merged with the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, which has since been renamed the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure.
These structural changes aim to streamline and enhance public access to government services. The Ministry’s official contact numbers, 4004900 and 4004901, are now available for housing-related inquiries.
Despite the administrative shifts, the Ministry has confirmed that there will be no disruption to the services provided to the public.
As part of the reshuffle, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu also transferred several functions from the dissolved Ministry. Land use, urban development, and national planning responsibilities were moved to the Ministry of Finance, which has been renamed the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
Additionally, the Maldives Bureau of Statistics, previously under the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, is now overseen by the Ministry of Finance and Planning. Housing policy formulation and social housing matters will now fall under the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure.
