The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has commenced repairs on Ameenee Magu, focusing on the section in front of Maafannu Stadium where the tarred road is plagued by potholes and other damage.
RDC employees began work by excavating the affected area. The next steps involve levelling the road and applying an asphalt mixture to restore the surface.

Ameenee Magu was originally constructed by RDC in 2022 during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Repairs were completed, and the road was opened for public use early last year. The project had utilised MVR 84 million from the State budget. At the time, concerns were raised about alleged overpricing and the use of substandard materials for the construction.
Looking ahead, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to reconstruct roads in Malé and Vilimalé through a grant from China. A technical team from China conducted a feasibility study late last year, and the project is expected to commence in the coming months.
Minister of Construction, Infrastructure, and Housing Dr Abdulla Muththalib has expressed optimism about the upcoming road reconstruction efforts, stating they will provide a lasting solution to recurring issues such as flooding.
