The establishment of the new police posts is part of the government’s broader strategy to expand police services throughout the country. According to the Maldives Police Service, efforts are underway to ensure a law enforcement presence on every island, with stations, posts, and desks being set up in multiple locations.
In the past year, police posts have been inaugurated on 23 islands, and the government aims to extend police services to all residential areas by the end of 2026.
