Maldives Sees Decline in Operating Tourist Guesthouses, Ministry Reports

The Ministry of Tourism’s daily statistics have revealed a decline in the number of tourist guesthouses operating in the Maldives. 

As of 27th January 2025, 794 guesthouses were in operation, down from 811 on 26th January.

Throughout January, the number of operating guesthouses has fluctuated. On 4th and 7th January, there were 929 guesthouses in operation, which then dropped to 825 by 14th January. 

By 19th January, the number had fallen further to 816, and it remained at 816 guesthouses until 25th January before the decrease to 794 by the 27th.

The Ministry also reported that a total of 185,042 tourists had visited the Maldives as of 27th January.
