President Dr Mohamed Muizzu returned to Male’ last Thursday after concluding his three-day tour of Haa Alifu Atoll.
During this trip, he visited ten islands of the atoll and met with their Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDC), and institutional heads. According to the President’s Office, these tours show his commitment to honouring his pledge to engage more with rural islands. He had made similar trips to Gaafu Alifu Atoll and Raa Atoll earlier in January.
During his visit to Haa Alifu Atoll, the President actively engaged with the islands’ residents and institutions, inquiring about their plight and needs. During the tour, Muizzu and the accompanying ministerial delegation inaugurated several development projects in various islands.
On Thursday, he visited Molhadhoo and Uligumu and spoke with their representatives. Speaking to the residents of Molhadhoo, he said the government should use state-run companies and resume stalled projects nationwide. He emphasised the importance of continuing such initiatives to benefit the people and stated that the government aims to mobilise state-owned companies to ensure their completion.
Muizzu also announced that the development of a yacht marina in Uligamu would commence in February. He also revealed that a buoy for sports fishing will be installed the same month, benefiting the local community.
