The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced the recruitment process for the Permanent Secretary of the newly merged Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
The decision follows last week’s dismissal of former Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal and the subsequent merger of the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Tourism into a single entity. President Mohamed Muizzu appointed Thoriq Ibrahim, who previously served as Environment Minister, as the minister overseeing the newly combined ministry.
As a result of the merger, the Permanent Secretary positions of both former ministries have been dissolved. The CSC has now opened applications for the new post.
Applications will be accepted until 2 pm on 11 February. Candidates must hold a Level 7 certification in the National Qualifications Framework with at least six years of management experience, or a Level 9 qualification with at least four years of management experience.
The appointed Permanent Secretary will receive a basic salary of MVR 20,500 per month, along with a living allowance of MVR 15,000, bringing the total monthly remuneration to MVR 35,500. The position carries a five-year term in accordance with the law.
