Cruise Ship MS Hebridean Sky Arrives in Addu City

The cruise ship MS Hebridean Sky, operated by Noble Caledonia, arrived in Addu City, where its 118 passengers were welcomed with a cultural showcase organised by the Maradhoo Avashu Office.

Docking at Maradhoo harbour last Thursday morning, the vessel was welcomed by Addu City’s Mayor and council members, marking a moment for the city’s tourism sector.

Passengers aboard the 118-passenger, all-suite ship were greeted with a cultural showcase organised by the Maradhoo Avashu Office. Traditional dance performances and displays of local craftsmanship provided visitors with an introduction to Addu’s rich heritage. The warm reception underscored the city’s eagerness to embrace international travellers, offering them an authentic experience beyond the Maldives’ more frequently visited atolls.

Over 100 tourists, primarily from the United Kingdom, disembarked for a day of exploration. Organised by Manta Expeditions, a local group focused on marine conservation and eco-tourism, the itinerary included a visit to the Addu Nature Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known for its lush landscapes and biodiversity. Visitors also explored the Koshidhorage Addu Heritage House, where historical and cultural artefacts provided insight into Addu’s storied past.
