Firefighters Extinguish Blaze at Abandoned House in Malé

Firefighters from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service extinguished a fire that broke out at M. House Plazage early this morning.
According to the MNDF, the Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 06:35 am, after which firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by 07:47 am.

Officials stated that the building had been deserted for many years, which led to the fire breaking out. No injuries were reported in the incident.
As a result of the incident, 55 people, including 20 foreign nationals, have been provided with temporary shelter from two houses, according to National Disaster Management Authority of Maldives (NDA) the fire caused damage to the main water pipes of these houses.
