Each household will receive one case containing 48 cans of 180-gram tuna in oil. Distribution in the Malé area will be overseen by Malé City Council and will only be available to Maldivians. To ensure eligibility, recipients will be required to verify their electricity meter number, and their ID card and contact number will be recorded.

Five distribution centres will be established in the Malé area:

  • Malé City Council Public Services Section
  • MIFCO Office Compound
  • Vilimalé Council Office
  • Umar Zahir Building in Hulhumalé Phase 1
  • Youth Centre in Hiyaa Tower 10, Hulhumalé Phase 2

STO has also begun dispatching canned fish cases to islands, with distribution already underway in parts of Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

During Ramadan last year, the government provided 1.6 million kilograms of staple foods to 82,000 households and offered MVR 142 million in electricity and water bill discounts.
