The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has issued a directive stating that employees of state-owned companies will receive only the designated Ramadan allowance, with no additional gifts or benefits related to the holy month.

Each Muslim employee will be entitled to an allowance of MVR 3,000. Employees holding multiple jobs will receive the allowance from the company where they hold their primary position.

The directive also outlines that employees on paid or unpaid leave for scholarships at the beginning of Ramadan will not be eligible for the full allowance unless they resume work during the month. In such cases, the payment will be adjusted based on the remaining days of Ramadan.

The Ministry of Finance has announced that Ramadan allowances for government employees must be disbursed by 20 February.
