President of the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB), Hamdhy Ageel, has been dismissed from his position.
The Spokesperson for the President’s Office, Heena Waleed, confirmed to MV+ today that he had been removed from the post but did not disclose the reason for his dismissal.
The decision follows PCB’s publication of two circulars yesterday—one addressing regulations on “gifts” distributed by state organisations for Ramazan, restricting them to the MVR 3,000 Ramazan allowance for employees, and another concerning government cost-cutting measures.
Hamdhy holds a Bachelor of Business Education (Economics) from the University of Wollongong and a Master of Commerce (Economics and Finance) from Curtin University of Technology. He has served in various government institutions for 16 years, including the Ministry of Housing and the Employment Tribunal. He has also held key positions, such as Managing Director of the Maldives Road Development Corporation (RDC) and Managing Director of Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM).
Hamdhy was appointed as PCB President on 22 November 2023.
