According to Athika Ibrahim, Director General of the ministry, Roadha Saafu, meaning “Cleaning for Ramadan,” is being conducted across all inhabited islands, including the Greater Malé area. In a video posted on X on Thursday, she noted that the initiative was also held last year.

“Cleaning up the island for Ramadan is within our Maldivan tradition,” she noted.

The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology reported that 157 of its employees took part in the clean-up. Staff from other state institutions such as WAMCO, STELCO, police and MNDF also participated in the event, which ran from 7:00 am until noon.
