Teenager Arrested in Male’ City with Over 1KG of Drugs

A teenager was arrested at a restaurant in Male’ City on Friday after being found in possession of over one kilogram of drugs.

The police announced yesterday that Mohamed Kiyan Ahmed Nazim, 19, from Ma. Hiythalavilla, K. Male’, was detained during an operation carried out following information provided by the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence. Officers arrested Kiyan at the restaurant and discovered the drugs during a search of his person.
Kiyan appeared before the Criminal Court on Saturday, where the court remanded him into police custody for 15 days. The operation that led to his arrest was conducted by the Gang Crime Enforcement unit with support from Drug Enforcement. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
Two Men Arrested for Attempted Robbery While Disguised as Women
In a separate incident, two men have been arrested for allegedly attempting to commit a robbery while disguised as women, according to police reports.
The suspects have been identified as Mohamed Sobah, 46, from Lilyge, Gdh. Vaadhoo, and Mohamed Naushad, 42, from Sosange, N. Miladhoo. Police said the men were apprehended near a shop on Maveyomagu in Male’. At the time of their arrest, both were dressed in women’s clothing in what authorities believe was an attempt to conceal their identities.
Following their arrest, the suspects were taken into custody and later remanded for 15 days while further investigations continue. Police have not yet provided additional details regarding the robbery attempt or whether any stolen goods were recovered.
