Maldives’ New High Commissioner to India Presents Credentials to Indian President

The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India, Aishath Azeema, presented her Letters of Credence to Droupadi Murmu, President of the Republic of India. The ceremony took place yesterday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential Palace of India.

During the call on the President that followed the Credential ceremony, President Murmu welcomed High Commissioner Azeema and congratulated her on her assumption of duties as the High Commissioner of the Maldives to India. In response, High Commissioner Azeema conveyed warm greetings from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and the people of the Maldives to President Murmu, the Government and the friendly People of India. The High Commissioner further expressed appreciation on behalf of the Government of the Maldives for the unwavering support to the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

Furthermore, High Commissioner Azeema reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Maldives to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations and expressed keen interest and commitment to working closely to strengthen the existing close ties between the two countries.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of establishing formal diplomatic ties, and India was among the first to recognise Maldives as regained independence.
