Chinese National Arrested for Drug Smuggling Attempt in Maldives

A 33-year-old Chinese man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into the Maldives. 

He appeared before the Criminal Court yesterday, where he was remanded in custody for 15 days. The man faces charges of drug smuggling, as well as drug use and possession.

According to his arrest warrant, a substantial quantity of drugs was found in a box he brought with him upon his arrival from abroad. Police reported that preliminary tests confirmed the presence of drugs.

The court decided to remand the man due to the seriousness of the case, emphasising his involvement in smuggling a large amount of drugs into the country.
