Parliament has launched a search for expensive vehicles imported to the Police Blues Housing Project.

A parliament member revealed that the Finance Committee is investigating the whereabouts and registration details of 24 vehicles that were imported between 2014 and 2017, during the construction of police flats in Hulhumale.

So far, the 24 vehicles have not been located. These vehicles were imported without paying taxes, and if they were intended for the project, they should be identifiable. As a result, authorities are actively seeking information on their current status.

Local media reports indicate that the vehicles in question include 14 crane lorries, two brand new motorcycles, two vans, a car, three tower cranes, and an overhead travelling crane.

Parliament has formally requested that Police Commissioner Ali Shujau provide details on the registered owners of these vehicles. The Finance Committee is also investigating allegations of theft and fraud related to both the Police Housing Project and the Police Cooperative Society (POLCO).

An audit of the police housing project has been published, and both the Finance Committee and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) are currently examining the cases.
