Four Arrested Over Alleged Drug Smuggling in Hanimaadhoo

Four Maldivians were arrested over alleged drug smuggling into Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo via the airport today.

This search was conducted on intelligence received by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence Unit.

Police said along with the unit, Kulhudhufushi City Police and the Hanimaadhoo Police searched the suspected individuals at the Hanimaadhoo Airport. They found 13.85 grams of substances suspected to be drugs on them, the police said.

Three of the people arrested in connection to this case are men, while one of them is a woman. They are: 

• Fathimath Shaha Hassan (20) – Morningsun, Noonu Atoll Velidhoo
• Hussain Shavin (22) – Nalavaa, Kaafu Atoll Guraidhoo
• Mohamed Riluvan Abdulsattar (22) – Raiyvilaage, Seenu Atoll Feydhoo
• Arsam Ali Waheed (28) – Maahil, Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo

Hanimaadhoo Magistrate Court ruled the four arrested individuals are to be kept under detention for 30 days. The police are investigating the case further, they said.
