The agreement for the project was signed by State Minister of Health Ahmed Qasim on behalf of the Ministry of Health at a ceremony held at RDC. Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Asbah Ali Naseer signed on behalf of the corporation.

According to the Health Ministry, the new hospital building will include a mammography unit, a dental OPG, an orthopaedic theatre, and private room facilities. A training facility will also be established to support hospital staff and healthcare workers from other islands within the atoll.

Despite Kudahuvadhoo, where Dhaalu Atoll Hospital is located, having an airport, an emergency ER will be developed to strengthen emergency medical response. The hospital will also feature a flu clinic and an isolation facility to ensure continuity of operations during disease outbreaks. Piped oxygen, medical air, and suction systems will be installed in all hospital beds.

A solar PV system will be installed to reduce energy costs, while a backup power system, a waste management system, and a hospital-grade industrial laundry setup will ensure uninterrupted operations. Additionally, a medical oxygen plant will be established to supply the hospital and other islands in the atoll.

The construction of the new hospital building is expected to address space constraints and facilitate the provision of comprehensive healthcare services. Residents of Kudahuvadhoo and nearby islands will benefit from improved access to medical care.
