President Announced to Start Construction of a New Mosque for Rin’budhoo by July

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu pledged to the residents of Dhaalu Atoll Rin’budhoo today that the government will start constructing a mosque with a capacity of 500 people by July.

The President’s Office said that while speaking to the residents of Rin’budhoo, Muizzu assured them this project would be funded by the 2025 state budget.

Muizzu is on the last day of a three-day tour to Dhaalu atoll at the moment, where he plans to meet with the residents of all inhabited islands. He will return to Male’ today.

When Muizzu met with the Rin’budhoo residents, the Island Council members informed him the current mosque on the island was built 33 years ago, in 1992. The President’s Office said Muizzu expressed his belief that, as proud Maldivians who have embraced the faith of Islam, the nation must have an adequate number of well-designed and spacious mosques on its islands.

Educational Constraints Faced by Rin’budhoo Residents

Muizzu also pledged to address the space constraints at the island school, and that the government would complete the ongoing administrative and technical work within the next two months. The project will begin by May then, according to the President’s Office.

 The president stressed the need for a permanent solution to improve the learning environment for students, parents, and teachers. The development will include six classrooms, a computer lab, and a library, significantly enhancing the island’s educational facilities.
