The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms for the southern and central regions of the country, with scattered showers expected in the north over the next 24 hours.

These rainy conditions are expected to persist for the next two days, with improvements likely by Monday, the third day of Ramadan.

The weather agency also predicts north to northeasterly winds at speeds of 8 to 18 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are expected to be moderate but will become rough during rainfall, with wave heights ranging from 3 to 16 feet.
