He emphasised that the list had been made public, with the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives (ACC) reviewing irregularities in the previous government’s list and awarding points based on set criteria. He stated that individuals who did not meet the requirements and were not allocated a flat would be informed of the reasons. He reaffirmed that no applicant had been deliberately excluded without justification and reiterated the government’s commitment to serving the people with equality, compassion, and justice.

Highlighting the transparency of the process, President Muizzu announced that this was the first time a housing list had been released without interference. He urged applicants who were not included to submit complaints through the designated procedure within the given timeframe.

Once the complaint period ends, he stated, officials will review the cases, and those who qualify will be considered for allocation. If any flats remain, they will be distributed based on the points assigned according to the applicant’s eligibility.

The President also assured that, even for those not included in the current list, additional housing projects would be launched in the Malé area to provide housing opportunities for residents of Malé City and all citizens aged 18 and above.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assured that there would be no interference in flat lists announced on Thursday by the government.

He made the remarks while speaking at a function at Republic Square held that evening following the inauguration of the Izzuddin Jetty.
