The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has removed 16,911 tonnes of flood water from the streets of Malé following continuous heavy rainfall.

Assistance was also provided to dozens of households across the country. Nearly all streets in Malé were inundated during the downpour. A specialised MNDF team assisted affected households, placing sandbags at entryways of residences at risk of flooding. Pumps were deployed across various locations in the capital to expedite the drainage process. MNDF has confirmed that the streets have now been cleared of flood water, and dewatering operations have been halted.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) also provided temporary shelter to 40 individuals from four residences due to flood-related sewage leaks.
