The position became vacant following the dismissal of Dr Vitaliy Lyubimov, who was removed from the role on Tuesday. Lyubimov, the first foreign national to hold the post in MIFCO’s history, was appointed only recently.
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) announced his dismissal but did not provide further details regarding the decision. Today, the board confirmed that Farhath Shaheer would be taking over the role.
Farhath previously served as Vice Chief of Defence Force during the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed and retired from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in 2012. Under former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, he was appointed as CEO of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where he implemented significant changes to the hospital’s operations.
