A total of 1,000 Maldivian pilgrims who travelled to Saudi Arabia between May 26 and 30 under the country’s full Hajj quota have now returned home safely.

The first group of pilgrims arrived back in the Maldives last Friday, followed by the second group on Saturday. The third group returned on Monday, and the final batch landed early last night, completing the return of all Maldivians who travelled for the annual pilgrimage.

Officials noted that this year’s Hajj experience was smoother for Maldivian pilgrims compared to previous years. The introduction of a new Mecca route initiative allowed travellers to board their flights with minimal waiting times at the airport, significantly easing the departure process.

Additionally, improvements were made to accommodation facilities in Mina and Arafat, enhancing comfort and convenience for the pilgrims during key rituals of the pilgrimage.
