MEERY Launches Free Job-Training Courses for Maldivian Youth

The MEERY Project has launched free National Certificate Level III courses for Maldivian youth aged 16 to 35.
A collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the MEERY Project—short for Maldives: Enhancing Employability and Resilience of Youth—aims to prepare young people for the job market by providing them with relevant, practical skills.
Courses will be held across the country, from Haa Dhaalu Atoll to Fuvahmulah, and cover a diverse range of subjects including barista training, event management, programming, art skills, and guest house operations.

Application deadlines vary by course, with some closing as early as 6 July and classes beginning on 13 July. Others are scheduled to commence on 1 August.
Funded by the World Bank, the project focuses on enhancing the quality of technical and vocational education, promoting entrepreneurship, and increasing youth employment in priority economic sectors.
Young people interested in gaining job-ready skills and earning a recognised national qualification are encouraged to apply through the government portal, Job Center.
