The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has begun repairing potholes in Ameenee Magu, one of the busiest roads in Malé.
Ameenee Magu was recently redeveloped to modern standards under a project launched by the previous administration. When the current government took office, the only unfinished section extended from the Food Court area to the Dhiraagu Head Office.
The stretch between the national radio building and Viyafaariveringe Mosque has developed the highest number of potholes. RDC commenced repair work on Sunday night, using asphalt to fill and level damaged sections of the road.
According to RDC, repairs will focus on potholes that pose the greatest risk to motorists and pedestrians, with work scheduled mainly for weekends. The corporation expects to complete the repairs by mid to late September.
Concerns about the deteriorating road surface in Ameenee Magu were raised months earlier, as the potholes were seen as a potential cause of accidents. The current works aim to address these safety risks.
