Advancing Marine Research

Established to monitor the fragile marine environment, the centre will conduct research on climate change, coral reef health, and marine biodiversity. It is equipped with laboratories, quarantine facilities, and classrooms to support both local and international studies, while also offering hands-on training for research students.

Owners’ representative at Champa Lars, Filip Petre, acknowledged that the project would not have been possible without the guidance and support of his father, Director Lars Petre, and Chairman Mohamed Moosa. He added that in the event of natural emergencies such as an oil spill or any situation that could endanger marine life, the institute will play a central role in providing support and assistance.
