Male’ Police Recover Stolen Property Worth MVR 5 Million in August

The Male’ Police Command reported the recovery of lost and stolen property valued at MVR 5 million during August, according to operational statistics detailing last month’s frontline policing efforts.

The recovered items included 90 motorcycles worth MVR 4.28 million, 19 mobile phones valued at MVR 219,843, and four electronic devices worth MVR 19,850. Police also recovered MVR 329,350 across 40 cases and MVR 80,848 from 47 other cases.

In addition to property recovery, police handed over four foreign nationals to the Immigration Department during the same period.

The statistics showed that frontline officers dedicated 999 hours to foot patrols, inspected 26,674 premises, and carried out 127 vehicle checkpoints. Six visibility and traffic management points were also established across Male’ City.

A total of 5,581 individuals were stopped and questioned, of whom 5,373 were identified as having criminal records. The remaining 208 had no prior records.
The neighbourhood police service conducted 900 community engagements during the month, reflecting efforts to strengthen ties between the police and the public.
