The National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research has announced the opening of applications for 40 scholarships for Master’s level studies in heritage research.
The scholarships, named ‘Signature Scholarships’, are being offered in partnership with the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM). Successful applicants will be enrolled in IUM’s Master in Research and Publication programme, a two-year course with a strong emphasis on academic research.
Students selected for the scheme will have their course fees fully covered by the National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research. They will also participate in research work at the institute two days each month as part of their academic development.
Eligibility for the programme is open to individuals holding a certificate at level 7, 8, or 9 under the Maldives National Qualifications Framework (MNQF). Applications will remain open until 2:00 pm on 25 September.
The National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research, which was established by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu last year, stated that the initiative aims to develop skilled researchers and encourage greater academic focus on Maldivian heritage. The programme is also expected to provide students with opportunities to conduct in-depth studies in areas of heritage and to publish their research findings.
