Hulhumalé Hospital’s General Practice Clinic in Phase II has begun operating 24 hours a day, providing continuous healthcare services to residents.

The clinic, located in Hiyaa Tower 16, had previously expanded its services to two shifts on 23 April last year as part of broader efforts to strengthen the health sector.

The recent expansion fulfils a pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, ensuring that families in the area now have consistent access to reliable healthcare at all times, with the exception of Fridays. Hulhumalé Phase II is home to an estimated population of over 30,000, and the extended service hours are expected to offer significant convenience for residents.

To address prolonged waiting times for medical consultations, the government has allocated funding for the construction of 15 new General Practitioner clinics this year. Once operational, these clinics will act as the first point of contact for patients, who will be referred to specialist or super-specialist doctors as required. This approach is designed to streamline the referral process and reduce waiting times for specialist appointments.
