In May, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu introduced Maldives 2.0, a flagship initiative to modernise public services and drive digital transformation across all sectors and institutions. The programme aims to create a digitally connected Maldives over the next three years, integrating accessible technologies nationwide and enhancing service standards.
The initiative is guided by eight key pillars, including secure digital identity, open data governance, robust cybersecurity, modern legal frameworks, sovereign digital infrastructure, citizen-focused e-government services, sectoral digital modernisation, and support for ICT innovation and local talent.
